Friday 3rd December
Finally, when I returned home, I focused on my Project 2 work and started the research into WIX and its capabilities. This is good to get started now as I want to get it completed by the end of the weekend so doing some now will alleviate the amount of work I need to do over the weekend.
Tuesday 7th December
Additionally, I have pretty much completed my PowerPoint of research on WIX for project 2. This is good to get out of the way now as it'll allow me to progress to the next part of project 2's over the next couple of days.
Thursday 9th December
After I had completed my first task, I went back to My WIX research and added one more Interactive Authoring page, focused on the additional apps that WIX provides. And finally, after doing that I went through the complete WIX research PowerPoint and adjusted all the text and images to make the PowerPoint look nicer and easier to read and understand.
Once I had done all the hard work, I looked at uploading it all onto my WIX page. I started by embedding the PowerPoint onto WIX, I had done this before, so it wasn't too hard. I hit a little problem however when it came to converting the website for a phone. My problem was that the PowerPoint was way too large for a phone screen. Luckily, I knew that to embed the PowerPoint, you first have to select the size of the PowerPoint you want embedded. So luckily, I was able to go back and embed a smaller PowerPoint for my phone website. Annoyingly, it's ever so slightly too small for a phone screen, but it is a lot better than it was before.
WIX research summary
From my own research, I’ve concluded three main reasons why WIX is a suitable website design tool.
The freedom that WIX offers is hard to beat. When building the website, the creator can choose from a vast variety of images, videos, hyperlinks and much much more. This makes building the website quick and easy. The creator also has complete control over their own WIX website as they’re able to delete or add anything they would want to their website. In fact a website can be built from one blank page if the creator wanted. This makes WIX a suitable website design tool as it will allow me to create and display anything I desire, as well as providing me with enough freedom to not hold me back.
Another reason WIX is a suitable website design tool is the help it offers when building the website. I have no coding experience, but thanks to WIX’s design interface this is not a problem. When building a website, WIX offers an easy click and drag system. This means anything from images to text and videos can simply be dragged off the editing platform and straight onto your website. This makes the website editing process smoother and means even people with no website design experience can build their own website. This is probably one of the primary reasons that WIX is a suitable website design tool as it’s important that the actual creation of the website is easy to understand, and the help WIX offers is simply some of the best.
The final reason that WIX is a suitable website design tool is the easy user interface it offers for the visitors to the website. Building the website is extremely important, but the visitors being able to navigate and use the website correctly is just as vital. And WIX makes this problem simple. The navigation tools it offers, such as anchors, menus and buttons, allow easy user interaction and navigation throughout the whole website and with the addition of user forms and contact sheets, user interactivity has been heightened.
In conclusion, there are many reasons WIX is a suitable website design tool. But overall they all bottle down to the fact that WIX makes creating, displaying, and interacting with a brand new website an efficient and easy to understand process.
Thursday 9th November
The first half of today was structured around Project 2. I started off by writing my 300-word summary based off my WIX research. Thanks to the structure plan I had devised last night, this ran pretty smoothly, and I ended up writing 389 words, which is enough to suffice.
